EUR/JPY live chart

EUR/JPY shows how many Japanese yen units (JPY) one euro (EUR) buys. When it rises, the euro is strengthening against the Japanese yen; when it falls, the reverse.

About EUR/JPY

What moves it

The euro side (European Central Bank)
ECB policy relative to the Fed, euro-area inflation and growth surveys (PMIs), and energy prices.
The Japanese yen side (Bank of Japan)
The gap between Japanese and foreign bond yields, Bank of Japan policy shifts, and risk sentiment — the yen often strengthens when markets fall.

When it is most active

Most active during the Tokyo and London sessions. The Tokyo–London handover is often when it starts to move.

Pip value

One pip is 0.01. On a standard lot of 100,000 EUR, a one-pip move is worth 1,000 JPY. Your broker converts this into your account currency at the current rate.

Trading notes

  • In risk-off periods money tends to flow into the Japanese yen, so EUR/JPY often reacts to stock-market sell-offs.
